I love playing on-line chess with people around the world, ah, the beauty of the internet. Anyhow, I came across someone who kept beating me repeatedly so I hung in there until I finally won. Then I got to the point where I was winning most of the matches. When I was bragging to a friend of mine who also plays on-line chess that I was whupping up on this guy (known on-line as tokyou2008), he laughed and said that he played him several times and that he was an 11 year-old kid from Tokyo, Japan. As the air left my body and my head shrunk, I realized that it's much more enjoyable playing when you don't who you're playing. :)
Pretty much everyone knows the acronym S.O.S. when someone needs to send out a distress call. I'm not sure that many people know what it stands for which is: Save Our Ship.
There are only so many things we can do for children to help them become successful later in life. One of those is very easy, teach children to love reading and watch them grow personally, professionally and spiritually. One small thing that makes such a huge difference in the future happiness of so many lives.
I've not seen much of CNN's Jim Acosta after he accidentally proved that border walls work. :)
My niece is a war veteran who was an officer in the Army. She's always been interested in politics and moved to D.C., to pursue a career. She's helped a congressman get elected. She served as a chief of staff for a veteran's organization. She's worked to get more women engaged in running for office. She's also been on about every major news network providing insight on various topics.
In her last assignment, she worked for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). I don't know if you've heard since the mainstream media has attempted to squash the news, but my niece and several other senior advisors have been pushed out. Why? Because the DCCC was told they need more diversity with African Americans and Hispanics. The DCCC wanted to create some openings for people of color so my niece and several other senior staffers were told to leave, others, chose to leave on their own because they were so upset with the outrageous move. I find this absolutely disgusting. My niece is brilliant. She has a tremendous amount of experience. She's white and she's a lesbian. Even this isn't good enough for the Democratic Party. Being great at your job isn't as important as having diversity of color. Apparently color trumps gender orientation in case you didn't know. I don't think their party has much hope considering they care more about color than job expertise. I wonder if Republicans just picked up some new voters? My high school football coach was intense. He'd say things like you've got to want it more than the other guy and that you need to have the attitude that you're the third monkey walking up the ramp to Noah's Ark and it's starting to rain. :)
The submarine I served on (U.S.S. Stonewall Jackson), could pretty much go as deep as around 1,000 feet before it would implode, meaning the water pressure would be so intense that it would crush our sub like an aluminum can.
There are several reasons why the ocean has been barely explored the greatest among them are that the ocean is so huge and so deep. Between the Philippines and Japan is an area of the ocean called the Mariana Trench and it is by far the deepest section of the ocean in the world. It is 1,580 miles long and 43 miles wide. As I mentioned our submarine could go 1,000 feet but the Trench is estimated to be around 36,000 feet deep! The ocean might truly be the last frontier. We've all been taught about the Alamo and how two amazing men, James Bowie (I've got a couple of his knives), and David Crocket died along with over 200 American soldiers. The one extraordinary man who doesn't get very much credit outside the state of Texas where they know a lot about him, is William Travis. He was just 26 years old during the battle and besides being a soldier, he also became a lawyer. Even though he was young, he was the commander of the Republic of Texas. He was a phenom and it's so sad that he died so young because there's no telling what he would've accomplished in his life.
Think about this. Police officers in Philadelphia were in a terrible shootout while some local citizens hurled insults and trash at them. Don't you think this is huge news? Can you imagine the coverage if it were in a white community and the citizens were doing this to the police? The mainstream media would've had major coverage over it but in this case in Philly, it wasn't covered. Why? I don't have a clue.
A special shoutout to Entertainment Tonight because they did cover what happened. Sad when it takes watching E.T. to get some real news. Of course places like The Blaze and Fox News did share what these police officers had to endure during a scary situation. By the way, the officers were there to get someone off the street who had been terrorizing African Americans in that community. They were risking their lives to help them. They're due respect but so many Democrats, including President Obama, demonize police officers which has endangered them. I find this disgusting. If you look up at the moon, you've probably seen what looks like a huge navel. It's called the Webb Crater and it's about 18 miles in diameter and around a half a mile deep. It's a big-un!
