He was so excited as production on a new television show was getting ready to begin. Then they stopped filming because the Actor's Union went on strike. Of course this was horrific timing for him. He could no longer afford to live in the house he loved or pretty much anyplace else in the city at this point as he had no income.
His landlord talked to him about his situation and said she might have a solution to where he could continue to live there. She had planned on totally renovating the house to make it more attractive for renters and if he could do that kind of work, he could stay.
Oh, he could do that kind of work and he loved it. He did absolutely everything to make the home more beautiful (i.e., electrical work, flooring, landscaping, plumbing, brick work, paving, painting, etc.). The landlord was flabbergasted at his skills, and she thanked him for saving her a lot of money.
Well, he finally got the call that they were going to begin filming so he excitedly showed up at the set of what ended up being a hit television show. Wait for it...this story is about Tom Selleck and his blockbuster role on "Magnum P.I."
And now you know the rest of the story. I sure miss Paul Harvey. What a treasure he was.
