If someone in the private sector makes a knowingly misleading statement (a.k.a. lie), and it impacts someone's reputation and/or livelihood, the individual could be sued.
Why are politicians treated differently? I hear things out of their mouths every day that are lies regarding other legislators. We need to stop these people from living by different laws than the rest of us because it will only get worse and more dangerous to you and me.
