Sorry We Didn't Do The 'Green Thing'

5/31/2022

Checking out at the store, the young cashier suggested to the much older lady that she should bring her own grocery bags, because plastic bags are not good for the environment. The woman apologized to the young girl and explained, "We didn't have this 'green thing' back in my earlier days.”

The young clerk responded, "That's our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations." The older lady said that she was right our generation didn't have the "green thing" in its day. The older lady went on to explain: "Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So, they really were recycled. But we didn't have the "green thing" back in our day.

Grocery stores bagged our groceries in brown paper bags that we reused for numerous things. Most memorable besides household garbage bags was the use of brown paper bags as book covers for our schoolbooks. This was to ensure that public property (the books provided for our use by the school) was not defaced by our scribblings. Then we were able to personalize our books on the brown paper bags. But too bad we didn't do the "green thing" back then.

We walked up stairs because we didn't have an escalator in every store and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didn't climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks. But she was right. We didn't have the "green thing" in our day.

Back then we washed the baby's diapers because we didn't have the throw away kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy-gobbling machine burning up 220 volts. Wind and solar power really did dry our clothes back in our early days. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing. But that young lady is right; we didn't have the "green thing" back in our day.

Back then we had one TV, or radio, in the house -- not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a screen the size of the state of Montana. In the kitchen we blended and stirred by hand because we didn't have electric machines to do everything for us. When we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used to wad up old newspapers to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap. Back then, we didn't fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power. We exercised by working so we didn't need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity. But she's right; we didn't have the "green thing" back then.

We drank from a fountain when we were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water. We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blade in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull. But we didn't have the "green thing" back then.

Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service in the family's $45,000 SUV or van, which cost what a whole house did before the "green thing.”

We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn't need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 23,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest burger joint. But we did have a green thing back then, it’s the place where thousands of young men and women are buried, so you are free to moan. But isn't it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks were just because we didn't have the "green thing" back then?"

That sound you just heard was of a mike dropping. 😎

The Sussman Trial

5/31/2022

It's predictable and beyond disgusting that the mainstream media would look for opportunities to tie Sussman's not guilty verdict into Hillary not being guilty. The trial had nothing to do with her except for how Sussman benefited from a D.C. jury who 35% were hardcore Hillary supporters and close to 70% were liberals some of which probably didn't want to admit they're Hillary supporters in order to get on the jury. Apparently one of the jury members knew Sussman because their kids played soccer together. At least this jury member didn't lie about it and of course the defense attorney wanted this person on the jury and got his wish. Was he guilty of lying? Anything but a yes is completely non-sensical.

The bottom line is if you're a conservative/republican, you don't want to end up in a D.C. courtroom but if you're a liberal, you can get out of almost anything. Justice is not blind in Washington.

Side note: Pelosi's husband got arrested for DUI but what can Nancy say? She hasn't driven a car in over 40 years because she's always had a driver, usually a Chinese spy. Every time she steps up to the mike, she appears drunk. She looks like a martini woman to me.

Roman Emperor Caligula

5/26/2022

This post is filled with wild stories, but it will take around four minutes to read.

Caligula was Rome’s third emperor and he reigned from 37 A.D. – 41.A.D. Quite frankly, he was a twisted individual in many ways thus making him a popular subject on television shows and movies. Some historians have pegged him as a cruel, sadistic, extravagant, sexually perverted, tyrant, while at the same time giving him credit for the infrastructure he worked so hard on such as roads and water pipelines into Rome.

The first emperor of Rome was Augustus, who Caligula was related to, and he was well loved among Romans and reigned from 27 B.C. – 14 A.D. Emperors had greater power over the Senate than the past Caesars. Tiberius became the emperor after Augustus died between 14 A.D. – 37 A.D. He was Caligula’s uncle, but he adopted him as his son for a succession plan to keep the power in the royal family of Augustus, since Tiberius didn’t have a son of his own.

Tiberius was a terrible ruler. He didn’t really care for the job except for having power over people, and he was always paranoid that he’d get killed. He didn’t live in Rome his last seven years as emperor and instead he had a beautiful estate built on the island of Capri where he took care of his duties ineffectively. In his absence Rome became chaotic with a mob rule mentality. The senators were livid that Tiberius continued to neglect his duties.

Tiberius had Caligula live with him for six years up until he died which was when Caligula was 26 years old. He never left the island the whole time while Tiberius groomed him to become emperor. Tiberius also had a grandson (Gemellus) who lived with him who was also a potential heir, but he was too young at the time so if Caligula stayed alive, he was next in line.

The citizens of Rome hadn’t seen an emperor in years so there was a lot of fanfare over Caligula riding into town. For the first seven months of his reign, he could do no wrong. The people loved him because he concentrated on meeting their basic needs of food and shelter along with reinstituting gladiator fighting in the coliseum which hadn’t been done in over 100 years. The senators liked him because he sought their council instead of dictating decrees like Tiberius did.

But things went drastically south when Caligula passed out and fell into a coma which at the time, they called a brain fever. Worried that someone might make a move to take over as emperor, Caligula’s bodyguard approached Gemellus and told him they should hold an emergency meeting with the senate to let them know they were in a standby mode to take over should Caligula not make it. In my opinion, this makes sense to create some stability but several weeks later when Caligula woke up, he saw it differently and had both men killed. This was just the start of the horrific twist in his demeanor. Historians can’t know for sure what happened to Caligula medically speaking, but it appears the fever did a number on him, and he became both paranoid and cruel. He even slept with the wives of several of the senators and he didn’t hide it.

He became paranoid about not having a son to take over as emperor and he ended up sleeping with all three of his sisters until one of them (Drusilla), finally became pregnant. He was in fact deeply in love with her. The power had gotten to his head, and he neglected to realize that Roman citizens would be appalled at his incest. It was like a flip of a switch to where one day Romans loved him, and the next, they wanted him removed out of disgust as there was no greater sexual taboo in ancient Rome, than incest.

About eight months into the pregnancy Drusilla became ill and both she and the baby died. Caligula was devasted and a deep depression set in. He made a decree that Drusilla would be an official goddess and had her image placed in different parts of the city. No Roman Caesar or Emperor had ever done anything like this before and the people became even more incensed.

Getting paranoid by the minute in not having an heir, Caligula took a bride who was eight months pregnant by another man, figuring that if she has a son, he’ll adopt him and if not, at least he knows his new wife could bear children. This woman happened to be part of a very respected military family. When she had her baby, it ended up being a girl which was once again a crushing blow to Caligula, but he was going to forge on to have a child of his own with his new wife in hopes of having a son which never happened.

His remaining two sisters and one of their husbands, felt that Caligula was moving on in trying to build his own family thus leaving them with no opportunities to remain part of the royal family. They saw their power slipping away and decided to kill Caligula, but the plot was foiled, and he sent his sisters into exile, and his brother-in-law was executed. A brother-in-law by the way who knew his wife was sleeping with her brother. There’s been no wilder soap opera throughout the history of mankind, than that of the rulers of Rome and those around them.

Caligula kept going down darker and darker paths creating statues of himself around Rome, basically presenting himself as a god. He would throw lavish parties which included orgies. Some say the cause of his “Brain Fever,” might have been a sexually transmitted disease as he was engaged in this type of activity even before he moved to Rome.

His counselor warned him that he better slow down on all his projects because Rome was about to go bankrupt. To find more revenue, Caligula reinstituted a Treason Law which gave him the opportunity to kill anyone he wanted and take their possessions. Since there were around 600 men in the senate who were some of the wealthiest people in Rome, they were the first to fall victim to Caligula who didn’t care if someone committed treason or not. He would have the senator killed and all things of value including his home, became Caligula’s property so the senators’ families were left with nothing. Have I mentioned Caligula was evil?

Even after killing and stealing money from thousands of Roman citizens, Caligula still didn’t have enough money to run Rome. The only way he could see bringing in vast amounts of gold was to invade another country and since Rome had never been successful conquering Britannia (Britain) in the past, he thought it would be a great legacy for him to accomplish what even Caesar couldn’t.

It ended up being a fiasco. The only way to get to Britain was to cross the English Channel and Roman ships weren’t seaworthy vessels, they mostly stayed along the coastline and went up and down rivers to deliver supplies. Thousands of Roman soldiers fled refusing to board the boats. He had a mutiny on his hands. And since the boats were smaller than regular seafaring ships, it took a lot of trips to try and get all the soldiers across the water and by then the element of surprise was gone and Britain began building up forces.

Then when Caligula was confronted with supply issues and that the soldiers were starving, he told his generals to murder two army divisions to thin out the ranks. They thought he was crazy before, but this was completely over the top and they began trying to figure out a way to kill Caligula and take the soldiers home. Instead, Caligula relented and said they’d go back but he wasn’t going to go back as a failure so in his usual corrupt way, he had countless soldiers dress up as conquered prisoners, and he marched them into Rome. Even though there were around one million Romans at this point, there’s no doubt family members saw their own men acting like prisoners and got word out that Caligula was trying a fast one. The senate quickly found out what Caligula did and wanted him removed from power. Knowing he wouldn’t step down on his own, some senators decided they would assassinate him.

They chose to murder him during the next gladiator games because there were underground passages to the arena, and he’d only have his personal guard with him as he walked through. Several senators showed up with swords but instead Caligula’s personal guard drew his sword and killed him. After four years as emperor and at the age of 28, Caligula was dead.

It was the senators’ hope that they could do away with the emperor position and instead return to a republic but that didn’t happen as they didn’t realize that Caligula’s uncle (Claudius) had positioned himself to take over the role of emperor which he held for around 13 years. He was completely different from Caligula and ended up being one of the most effective leaders in Rome’s long history. He showed integrity and he was extremely intelligent. After experiencing being led by someone who was considered a “Mad Man,” Claudius was very much appreciated.  The statue below is one of many that Caligula had done.

Just for Show

5/26/2022

So, a day after the horrific killings in Texas, Biden thinks it's a good idea to go after law enforcement using an Executive Action, as a symbolic move two years after George Floyd's death. Keep in mind, that Biden could've worked through the House and Senate to get approval for "his," ideas, and they would've become law, but he didn't. Why is this?

It was just a game as the federal government has no control over local law enforcement agencies so what he was signing was basically just requests and nothing else. Of course democrats know that many of their constituents are clueless so they put on a show anyways. I'm so sick and tired of their games. Midterms can't come fast enough.

Can We Talk Here?

5/24/2022

This video is about nine minutes long and every bit of it is extremely impactful. Bill Maher brings up issues from the LGBTQ community that most people are afraid to talk about especially when it comes to children being exposed to different sexual orientations. I certainly don't always agree with him, but this time, he absolutely nailed it.

A Life Changing Program

5/23/2022

Tens of millions of people around the world who have become addicted to alcohol and/or drugs, have gone through The 12-Step Program which was invented in 1939.  An extremely effective program that is Christian based even though many liberals don't like to admit it. Good luck trying to take God out of it as he is the reason it works.

What's especially amazing is how so many people who weren't Christians became one while going through the program. The whole thought process of there being a higher power is something many of them hadn't bought into before going through the program. The fact is, if you want to see someone truly change consistently for the better, a conversion of spirit is the absolute key.

Here's a rundown of the 12 steps:

Step 1: Admit to being powerless over the drug. The importance of this is if someone continues to believe they can conquer their addiction on their own, they’ll continue to fail.

Step 2: Accept that a higher power, in whatever form, will restore your sanity. If they don’t believe that a power much stronger than themselves will get them through any challenges, then they’ll never have the confidence they need to overcome addictions. Hope is critical to the process.

Step 3: Make a decision to turn your will and life over to a higher power. This goes with step two in that a person must invoke a more powerful source for change.

Step 4: Take a moral inventory of yourself. Humans are strange. We too often find it very easy to point out the faults of others while looking past our own. We must know what we’re up against. We also most understand humility through recognizing our own faults and admitting we need God to make progress on improving our short comings.
Step

5: Admit to a higher power, another human, and yourself, the nature of your wrongdoings. Confessing to someone else our sins, is one of the hardest things we’ll ever do, but it’s a crucial tool in wanting to do better because we don’t want to have a bunch of bad things to confess and be embarrassed about; basically, it gives us an added incentive to try and do the right things.

Step 6: Accept that a higher power will remove your character defects. This is about not just believing in yourself but believing the one way to truth and healing is to believe that God has the power to accomplish positive change in our lives.

Step 7: Humbly request the higher power remove your shortcomings. If a person does this with a believing heart, then it shows that he or she does believe in a higher power and God will bless it.

Step 8: List people you hurt during your addiction and be willing to make amends. People who reach this step knows how much it hurts. We don’t like to relive our mistakes. We don’t want to be reminded how we’ve hurt other people. This part of the process is cleansing because it makes us think about how we’ve failed and how it impacted other people, giving us more reason to try and do the right things and not hurt others again due to our addictions.

Step 9: Make amends to those people unless it would harm them. This one is a reminder that although we need step eight to move on, that not everyone would benefit through our confessions and apologies, and we need to consider this before confronting them.

Step 10: Continue to take a personal inventory, and when you’re wrong, admit it. There’s immense power in admitting our weaknesses, and for stress purposes, it’s way better to get the apology over with.

Step 11: Use prayer and meditation to connect with the higher power. Talk about tapping into power. Even people who aren’t spiritual per se, know the many benefits of meditation. Prayer is like making a phone call to God. You don’t call someone who you don’t believe is there. When we invoke the Holy Spirit and strike up a conversation with God, we tap into an energy/light source that is mesmerizing and life changing.

Step 12: Carry the message of AA and NA to others and continue to practice the principles of the 12 steps in your daily life. The thing about talking something up is that you talk yourself up each time you do. It gives a person added motivation to continue the journey towards self-actualization.

After all these years, The 12-Step Program is still going strong and changing lives for the better. It’s helped bring families back together. It’s saved marriages. It’s saved lives. It’s helped reduce our prison population. How amazing is that?!

Another Argument Bites the Dust

5/22/2022

Of course there are numerous abortion hearings taking place on The Hill and in one last week, they went over the findings of why women have abortions. It wasn't good news for pro-abortion activists as the research showed that only 1.5% of abortions are for those who have health interests of the women involved and/or developmental issues in the child. Instead, the primary reasons for abortions regardless of the trimester remain the same: 1) Change in relationship status. 2) Change in income. 3) Fear of taking on the role of parenting.

So once again not only is one side of the aisle lying, they're doing it in the extremes with only 1.5% of abortions fitting what they're saying is the norm. They also showed where by far a majority of abortions are performed on African Americans followed by Hispanics and they are paid for by donations and federal and state tax dollars. Surprise, surprise, Planned Parenthood has been lying about how they're using our tax dollars.

One last thing, one of the representatives from Texas was upset that the pro-abortion people who were being interviewed in the hearing kept attacking his state. He then shut them down by saying that Texas has eight women's centers for each abortion clinic to help women in every step along the way mentally and physically, to find the best solution for keeping her child or having her child adopted. Basically, saying that them making claims that Texas doesn't care about the welfare of women, is a complete lie. Are you noticing a trend?

The World of Biden

5/22/2022

Well, Biden did accomplish one of his goals that he promised during his inauguration speech and that is he was going to unite Americans. Unfortunately for him, he's united the country against himself.

There are still around 27% of Americans who are happy with Biden which means that 27% of our country should be committed to mental institutions with all voting privileges removed because they're a danger to our Republic.

One last thing, so far at least two of Biden's counselors have stated gas prices aren't high enough. That it takes suffering for us to make the changes we need to make in reference to our pursuit of green energy. Green energy I might add, that only 20% of Americans could afford. Is the federal government planning on subsidizing additional costs for the 80%? We can't afford it. This is once again proof that the Biden Administration is so far off base that they should be thankful the world isn't flat.

A Phenom

5/21/2022

Elizabeth Bonker is a valedictorian at Rollins College in Orlando, Florida. The college isn't all that well known outside of the state of Florida, but it is academically considered one of the best in the country.

There are many reasons why Elizabeth is so amazing the biggest being that her parents didn't know what kind of a future she'd have as they found out she had autism when she was 18 months old. Her particular form of autism prevented her from speaking and the motor skills in her hands were in terrible shape so she couldn't button her clothes. When she wrote her commencement speech, she typed it with one finger and while she stood at the podium, someone else said her speech in a microphone off stage while another person signed it for the hearing impaired in the crowd.

Her message to her classmates, and now for all of those who've seen her on YouTube, is extremely inspiring. If you have six minutes, please listen to what she has to say because it impacts all of us. Thanks.
