The movie takes its viewers on an emotional roller coaster ride causing them to think deep about a few issues and question their current belief systems. The movie is a bit of a slow burn because it's not about the fights, it's the story behind them. Let's face it, how can anyone go wrong with Eastwood and Freeman being in a film together? :)
I just finished watching for the second time, "Million Dollar Baby," with Clint Eastwood, Hilary Swank, and Morgan Freeman. It came out in 2004. It received critical acclaim and grossed $216.8 million. The film received seven nominations at the 77th Academy Awards and won four: Best Picture (Eastwood), Best Director (Eastwood), Best Actress (Swank), and Best Supporting Actor (Freeman).
:) Former Olympic gold medalist Mike Eruzione said that African American Olympic Athlete, Gwen Berry, was wrong to turn her back to the American flag as the national anthem played at the U.S. Olympic Trials over the weekend. "I think there’s a time and place to be able to voice your problems, your issues, but I think the podium, with the anthem and the flag, [is not it]. Maybe we should highlight the two young ladies who are standing there with their hand over their heart with their flag in their hand and what they’re standing for."
Amen, Mike! “Father of Traffic Safety” William Eno, invented the stop sign, crosswalk, traffic circle, one-way street, and taxi stand--but never learned how to drive.
The only losing basketball coach in University of Kansas history is James Naismith--the man who invented basketball in 1891. Before 2012, the largest purchaser of kale in America was Pizza Hut. They used it as garnish around their salad bars. Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone but refused to keep one in his study. He feared it would distract him from his work. Bill Hillman, a bullfighting enthusiast, wrote a book called How to Survive the Bulls of Pamplona, all about how to avoid being gored by bulls. Three weeks after the release of the book, he was gored by a bull. Before he became a star, Pharrell Williams was fired from McDonald’s three different times. Years later, he would help write and produce the company’s iconic “I’m Lovin’ It” jingle. There's plenty of proof that George Floyd committed many crimes before he died including pointing a gun at a pregnant woman and terrorizing her to give up her money.
Floyd was a criminal who victimized his own African American community. He does not deserve the honors he's received. It's a horrific slap in the face of the many Africa Americans who he's victimized. What in the world are these people thinking?! Biden's family has so many members who have been booked for various crimes yet none of them have gone to jail as the suits are always thrown out. Frank Biden was recently in Florida and not only got caught speeding, it also shows him briefly attempting to flee from the police.
You'd think this would be an easy one, but the case was thrown out once again. The reason for this is that the police officer who made the arrest was involved in a training session and couldn't show up to court. Keep in mind, there's no record of him telling the court where he'd be which is protocol. Why did he not follow procedure? Another Biden coincidence? There are laws for elitists and there are laws for the rest of us. It's time we recalibrate the scales. This is the latest figure for the amount of unarmed African American males who were shot and killed by police officers during a one-year period:
A total of thirteen were killed which is about half that of whites who are killed by the police while unarmed. Keep in mind, blacks kill more blacks in Chicago over the weekend than are being killed by the police during an entire year. This means that the chance of an African American being killed by a police officer is .000000292%. Being that it is more likely that a black person will be killed by a car, lightning, or other African Americans, proves without any doubt, that there isn't systemic racism in the U.S. and certainly not with law enforcement. Why aren't they willing to address the root of the problem which is the African American culture? Do liberals truly think they're helping them by preaching a victimhood mentality? It makes no sense. I find it shocking that some liberals think they can continue to say things in hopes that they will somehow come true. They are not the party of common sense and logic. They aren't the party of facts and figures. They are the party of smoke and mirrors. They are the party of double-standards. They are the party who believes the end justifies the means. Save our country....vote red! President Biden gave Vladimir Putin a list of 16 strategic sectors that should remain "off-limits" from being targets of cyber attacks. What in the world was he thinking? Why not let him know that we don't want hacking of any kind so they don't take advantage of his words and attack the other hundreds of business sectors that would still be "on-limits," to their attacks.
I don't think playing the "off-limits," game with Russia will work as Putin always hides behind others who do his dirty work. But the fact that Biden said something so weak and ineffective, is embarrassing. It's almost as if it's actually the Democratic Party which has close ties to China and Russia while the entire time they were trying to say Trump was close to these leaders. I don't know about you, but I don't find that at all shocking as their mantra is: "The end justifies the means." So now Hunter Biden is an artist with I believe one painting going for $500,000. Let me ask you something, do you think democrats and the media would be okay if one of Trump's children all of a sudden began making that kind of money and like Hunter, the buyers were remaining anonymous? They are the: "Double-standards Party."
The American Civil War was over, and the S.S. Sultana was heading home, overloaded with recently liberated Union prisoners of war anxious to see their families. Even though the Sultana had a legal capacity of 376 passengers, there were more than 2,300 people crammed on the sagging decks with standing room only.
At 2:00 a.m., three of the ship’s four boilers exploded, destroying a good portion of the ship and sending hundreds of soldiers flying into the icy water. Some of the dazed men were able to cling to floating wreckage until other boats arrived to rescue them, but most were not so fortunate. When it was over, an estimated 1,600 of the 2,300 passengers perished, and many others were badly wounded. In fact, more people died in the Sultana disaster than the infamous Titanic. The Sultana might be listed as one of the greatest ocean disasters, except the Sultana never went to sea. It sank in the Mississippi River—only 150 yards from land. Moreover, news of this terrible steamboat tragedy was relegated to the newspapers’ back pages: it was April 27, 1865, and the War Between the States was just ending. The recent assassination of Abraham Lincoln, the killing of John Wilkes Booth, and the deaths of more than 600,000 soldiers in America’s bloodiest war filled the papers. Surrounded by violence, the nation had become desensitized to death. The deaths of 1,600 Union soldiers on their way home from Confederate prisons did not seem like front-page news. And that's the rest of the story... The mainstream media doesn't want to cover it but the stories are beginning to back into them forcing a response. Many major cities across the country who defunded the police are now reinstating the money and more due to skyrocketing crime. The mayor of Baltimore led efforts as a city councilman to defund the police budget by $22 million, and now he's proposed a $27 million increase. Add to this lawsuits from citizens of these major cities are building momentum as they state very logically, that the city councils and mayors are endangering their lives through their anti-police efforts. Grab the popcorn, it's going to be a good one!
