In 1913, a 19-year-old college student (Terry Williams) in Chicago, invented what would be called mascara by mixing soot with petroleum jelly. His sister Maybelle became his test subject and she loved it so he decided to see if he could turn it into a family business.

In coming up with a name for his company, he combined his sisters name with Vaseline, and the brand Maybelline was born. Over one hundred years later, Maybelline has five out of the top ten mascaras sold in the U.S. Pretty amazing!

Blame It on the White Guy

It was inevitable. Whites are to blame for the fallout of Will slapping Chris. Amazing!

“The public's reaction to Will Smith's Oscars slap underscores the unique burdens felt by Black men when they do something wrong, particularly in public. After Will Smith slapped presenter Chris Rock for making a cruel joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, who suffers from alopecia, many people denounced Smith for reacting with violence. But the critiques quickly became racially charged and experts in racial stereotypes say many of the responses, particularly among white people, were rooted in anti-Blackness.

“I am certain that if one white man slapped another during the Oscars, the world would be buzzing about it, too. But the buzz would be different – it wouldn’t be racialized. When white men act badly, their actions aren’t attributed to their race. Because Will Smith and Chris Rock are both Black men, so much of the conversation about their altercation is being characterized as Black male violence, which is unfair," said Shaun Harper, a professor at the University of Southern California.

These university professors are worse than domestic terrorists because of their horrific impact on our world through naïve young people. What this professor left out is that it wasn't white people who were talking about angry black men, it was other African American men who are getting sick and tired of things like this happening. How is it racist if they're the ones bringing it up and not white people? People purposefully hurting race relations for political gain is so immoral.

Denzel Washington (Born 1954)

Throughout my adult years of watching movies, basically 1980 on, my favorite actor by far has been Denzel Washington. There are certain people who if they’re cast for a movie, I’ll see it just because they’re in it and Denzel is one of those. And the thing about Denzel, is that he’s played countless roles because of his versatility so I don’t get bored with any typecasting.

I don’t know how many people remember, but women went wild when Denzel showed up as a doctor on the television show: St. Elsewhere, where he was part of the cast between 1982 and 1988. Then right out of the gate (1989), he got a movie role in the blockbuster film: Glory, and he won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He became the real, man on fire. Other awards followed including an Oscar for the crime thriller: Training Day. He was a viciously, dirty, cop and he played it perfectly. He can make you love him or hate him as easy as a flip of a coin.

But throwing all the above accolades aside, I only listed a fraction, Denzel is a tremendous role model for all young people. The values his family instilled in him are often called: “Midwest Values.” His father was an ordained minister and he believed in discipline and was concerned about the people in Denzel’s life, so he sent him to a military academy which Denzel said pretty much saved his life. The buddies he ran around with before then all ended up in prison for various crimes.

Denzel attended Fordham University where he played basketball for the legendary P.J. Carlesimo. While in college he also became a Y.M.C.A. director for a children’s camp in Connecticut. During Denzel’s first year on “St. Elsewhere,” he met the woman who would become his wife for almost 40 years now, Pauletta Washington. It is a great fit as she is a phenom in the film business. They’re both brainers. They have two daughters and two sons together. The bottom line is they’d be any child’s dream parents.

Thanks to both Pauletta and Denzel for shining their light in a very dark space of our world. You’re awesome!

The Rich Grandchildren

Now that the media has admitted that the laptop in question does belong to Hunter (which we all already knew), it would be nice if they actually covered what's on it because try as they might, this one isn't going away as every day another nightmare unfolds for the Biden family including the latest where investigators found a bank account that Hunter set up for his children and they received a $100,000 wire transfer from a Chinese foreign national associated with the communist party. Was the money reported to the IRS? Of course not and we know why.

I realize that China loves child labor, but something tells me the money had nothing to do with President Biden's grandchildren's hard work, and everything to do with what Hunter did for them through his father's clout. A defense attorney doesn't have the kind of magic wand it would take to get Hunter out of this one nor many other shut and dry criminal cases that have been building.

Question. Do you think if it were Eric Trump in this case that he'd still be out and about like Hunter? Do you think the media would've buried the story before the election out of concerns they didn't know if the laptop was his? We no longer have the right to point our fingers at the corruption in the rest of the world when democrats have brought the worst of it to our own shores. I'm angry and I'm embarrassed. We're better than this.

A Rotten Apple

The CDC's relationship with the Teacher's Union has been exposed and it is clear that they allowed executives in the union to actually write policy. That's right, not just provide input, but policy writing and editing, thus why classrooms were shut down all that time with no scientific rationale behind it.

The funny part about this whole thing is that the head of the CDC, Rochelle Walensky, was asked yesterday about the union's involvement in policy making and she deflected and said they seek the advice of all groups which might be negatively impacted by CDC guidelines. When asked who those other groups are that pitched in on policy making, she looked like a deer caught in the headlights. I don't know why, but I felt a bit sorry for her even though I shouldn't. She is a brilliant woman who should have stayed teaching in Harvard's Medical School and not gotten into politics. I think she'd agree with me at this point.

BTW: I'm starting to believe that kryptonite for democrats is a follow-up question.

Let Me Blow Your Mind

Have you ever driven a remote-controlled car? Have you ever had it go out of range and you had to go retrieve it? With this in mind, have you ever thought about the fact that various engineers designed and constructed a remote-controlled vehicle for Mars that they operated from around 249,000,000 miles away?

Anytime I think about the brain power it took to accomplish what they did, I feel very, very, small. Engineers are amazing. They truly make our world go around.

Gone Fishing

I never turned down an opportunity to go fishing with my dad. I loved it, but it wasn't until years later that I realized the real benefit in maxing out my time with him then, is the impact it still had on me and my love for a great man. Those memories of the awesome fishing holes, the huge one that got away, broken lines, fishhook in the thumb, snagged lines in the water and on tree branches behind us when casting, etc., are the most played in my mind.

I guess the point of this post, is to remind everyone that sometimes the things we do and say and when we do them, have more to do with needs down the road than where are minds are currently focused. In other words, it's not always just about a specific event, it's about what that experience will mean to us years later, and it's important we consider this in all things we do both good and bad.

It's a Small World After All

A huge feud is underway in Florida between Disney World's executive team and Ron DeSantis. Disney has pledged to get what they call the: "Anti-Gay Bill," overturned. Of course Disney is owned by ABC which was the first major network with a massive WOKE agenda.

The problem for Disney is that although their stances work in a state like California (Disney Land), they don't have that kind of support among Florida residents whether they are democrat or republican. Disney outwardly lied about what was in the legislation just like so many gay rights people are doing. By the way, it is public school policy in California for teachers to find out the gender identify of these young students and help mentor them without even letting parents know. It truly blows my mind. No wonder there's a great exodus in California.

There is nothing wrong with not allowing gender identity, sex, and/or sexual orientation, taught to children in Pre-K through Grade 3. Most schools across the country aren't teaching sex education to children this young anyway. The Bill provides protection for young minds and peace of mind for parents who have more important things they want their children learning at these impressionable ages. Does this sound like a bunch of dangerous homophobes to you? All they're saying is wait to discuss these confusing issues until their minds are a little more mature. How dare they!

But this is what gets me most of all and makes me so disgustingly irate, and that is that the people on the other side know what the Bill is about and they know that most Floridians regardless of politics agree with the Bill, but they don't care about the truth. They're willing to blatantly lie to get what they want. They believe the end justifies the means and this makes them immoral. It's as simple as that.

BTW: Disney World is also getting rid of everything, including music, which uses gender pronouns like he and she. They said they don't want to make children who identify differently to be uncomfortable. This makes about as much sense as Biden logic.

Attacks on DeSantis

Democrats are viciously attacking Governor Ron DeSantis and the republican party in Florida, for their new Bill which protects parental rights in what is being taught in the classrooms. They say it's a direct attack on the LGBTQ community which is an outright lie. The proof of their lie is so simple to point out. If you were to ask liberal parents what age they want their children to know about sex, more than likely they'd say at least the 5th grade or later. Plus, a lot would rather handle the topic at home.

With the above in mind, the legislation that republicans came up with is that they don't want gender issues, sexual orientation, etc., taught to children in Pre-K all the way through the third grade. This isn't an extraordinary move. It's in line with the thinking of a large majority of Floridians, democrats and republicans, and it's our right to legislate this area.

Since most liberals don't even want sex education taught before the 5th grade then why is what republicans are doing in Florida wrong? Why is it homophobe? How does it impact the LGBTQ community when no one is saying never cover the topic, they're just saying wait until a child has the level of maturity necessary to understand the content. Even though these are simple truths, democrats attempt to destroy it and create even more division. I find this sickening. Somehow, someway, it's got to stop for the wellbeing of our great nation.

BTW: I watched ABC World News last night to see how they'd cover this issue and wouldn't you know it, the only people they interviewed were from the LGBTQ community and not any of the parents who had very logical reasons why they didn't want their young children taught these topics at their young ages. This isn't how a "news agency," is supposed to work. It's all politics and propaganda now, and it's sad. The special protections they get under law should no longer apply to their organization.
