November Topics

11/1/2018

Well the ghouls and goblins are now gone and so is the candy! This month I have more political content than anything else because there’s so much going on. Never in my life have I seen so much division in our country. This is sad considering if we’d list the top five things that matter to us, most of us would agree. We might differ on the approach to achieving these things, but our hearts are in the right place. If we’d peel back the layers I think we’d find that politicians in both parties are mostly responsible for getting us to attack one another. They make us think it’s Democrats vs. Republicans when it’s really citizens vs. politicians.

This month the articles of a more serious nature include:  1) Birthright citizenship. 2) Does white privilege exist? 3) Are atheists correct? 4) Who wants to try socialism? 5) Democrats and the Saudi investigation. 6) The Double-Standard Party. 7) Democrats and the Mexican cartel. 8) The caravans. 9) Income inequality. 10) What happened to San Francisco?

On the non-political side this month I have: 1) Jeffrey Dahmer 2) What’s special about the horizon? 3) Mr. Butts. 4) Not in good conscience. 5) Athletics vs. education. 6) The Roman Empire. 7) It’s what we say that counts. 8) An amazing crime story.

A reminder that all you must do is copy and paste any of the articles to an email or Face Book to share with others.  Thanks for visiting my site and may peace and joy be with you always!

Birthright Citizenship

11/1/2018

I’m not a legal scholar although I’ve studied the U.S. Constitution a lot. There’s much controversy about President Trump possibly issuing an Executive Order banning Birthright Citizenship from parents who are here illegally and have a baby on U.S. soil.  In my opinion, he doesn’t have a legal right at this point based on the current interpretation of the 14th Amendment, but through the Supreme Court more narrowly defining the amendment, I think he’d be proven right.

The Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution was adopted on July 9, 1868, as one of the Reconstruction Amendments. The amendment addresses citizenship rights and equal protection of the laws and was proposed in response to issues related to former slaves following the American Civil War. The amendment was bitterly contested, particularly by the states of the defeated Confederacy.  The bottom line is slaves didn’t come over here on their own free will, so they and their children, deserved citizenship. In other words, their parents weren’t here illegally so their children weren’t either and all of them deserved U.S citizenship.

With the above in mind, I believe it’s completely different than what’s going on with illegal immigration now. If parents are here illegally it doesn’t fit the intent of the 14th Amendment. Once again, I believe liberals are throwing out the intent of the framers of the U.S. Constitution and amendments in general. We’ve got to know where their minds were at the time to understand what they were attempting to convey in their laws. This is the way it’s supposed to be done.

In wrapping up, I repeat that I don’t think Trump would be successful at using an Executive Order in this case, but I believe he’s right about what the 14th Amendment means. Why in the world would we open citizenship in this way? Pretty much Canada and the United States are the only major countries around the world who do this. In Africa, only two out of the 54 countries offer Birthright Citizenship. I believe liberals are throwing out the Constitution once again to fit their agenda.

White Privilege?

11/1/2018

Does white privilege exist like many liberals believe? The answer is no; at least that’s what the facts show. There are millions more poor white people than African Americans who are poor. There are no statistics that show that someone who is poor and white has an advantage over someone who is poor and African American. In other words, a Caucasian doesn’t have a better shot of getting out of the poor economic spectrum than someone who is African American.

The truth is the racial segment of our society that is doing way better than everyone else, is Asian Americans. Are they more successful than every other racial group because of their skin color? No. The common denominators to their success include their focus on education and therefore they have more advanced degrees than other racial segments. Their children blow away other students in SAT scores. They are biologists, doctors, engineers, etc.  Asian Americans have a higher average median household income.  There’s a major focus on teaching their children discipline, hard work, integrity, etc. It’s just the way they’re brought up, it’s their culture and it’s made them highly successful.

The bottom line is that someone’s skin color will not dictate their destiny but the culture they grow up in can. There are facts galore that support this. Are liberals going to get away from white privilege because the facts don’t support it and move on to cultural privilege? They’ve got to blame someone else for where they are in life because to not do this leads to an introspective of where they might have failed. Surely the other guy has a leg up. Surely someone else of another race didn’t have to work as hard because they’re privileged.  It’s a weak-minded, selfish, outlook on life and by not taking ownership of their own lives they’ll never reach their full potential. I find this very sad.

Jeffrey Dahmer

11/1/2018

Jeffrey Dahmer killed 17 men and they found some of them (what was left of them), in his apartment. He was a cannibal. Even though the evidence was clear, he still pleaded not guilty and had three attorneys working around the clock to get him acquitted.

I understand our judicial system, but I've got to say that there's no way I could be a defense attorney trying to free people like Dahmer into society. He was of course convicted and some of the inmates decided to give him their own form of the death penalty. For me it was a happy ending.

Are Atheists Right?

11/1/2018

I find it interesting that although atheists like to think they're intellectually advanced and go by facts versus theory, that they're using arguments that there isn't a God based on a lot of theory. When it comes to the number of universes or how it's all created, there are theories not facts; even scientists agree to this.

Some say that our universe was created 40 billion years ago while others in the scientific community say that their logic takes a huge leap of faith in trying to piece things together. I for one am not saying the universe wasn't created 40 billion years ago; although I find it interesting they have a tough time trying to figure out what even happened 6,000 years ago, but my belief is that there was a creator (God). I say this based on logic because there isn't anything around me that hasn't been created. Something popping out of thin air isn't something most people believe, even atheists, except when it comes to creation. Can the Big Bang be recreated at a molecular level to test the hypothesis? It can't so it hasn't been proven beyond theory.

I believe there is a God. I believe in Jesus. I see evidence all around me in people that take care of their fellow man without anything in return. Take for example with our recent hurricane. The organizations that are/were there to help those in need are Christian organizations; there aren't any atheists organization out there to help people in need. Let's just say that people who are believers are idiots, but thank God for them, because if it were left to atheists, humankind would not take care of each other when they need it most.

A Way to Try Socialism

11/1/2018

The Actors Union would be a great place to try socialism. They could take the $20 million they give the leading actor for a film and spread it around among the actors who are being paid the minimum for participating in the movie. Shouldn’t the bleeding-heart liberals like Jennifer Lawrence and George Clooney love this?

Mr. Butts

11/1/2018

Alfred Mosher Butts invented a board game in 1938 called Crisscross Words. It didn't become a huge seller until they changed the name to Scrabble. Just more trivia to make your world great.

Fire, Ready, Aim!

11/1/2018

The double-standard and fire, ready, aim, Party are at it again. They want to immediately go after the Saudis before an investigation takes place into the slaying of Saudi Arabian journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Democrats are screaming saying Trump is allowing the Saudis to conduct their own investigation.

Trump doesn't have the authority to allow anything in this case. What if something like this occurred here, would we only conduct an investigation if Saudi Arabia allowed us to...it's absurd. Then there's the fact that Turkey is investigating, and they will have absolutely no problem getting to the truth; they're not in bed with the Saudis. We can't force our involvement in an investigation into the murder of someone who is not a U.S. citizen; Democrats know this, they’re just lying about it because attacking Trump is part of their Party’s platform.

It's amazing that Democrats are now so hard core about Trump's handling of the Saudis when Obama was a pet to them. Remember, he even bowed to the Saudi King. Do Democrats know we have a CIA? Do they know what types of things they do? They've destabilized governments and helped with coups. They assassinated people in the interests of the U.S. They've interrogated and have killed people in interrogations. Do they know that “Spy” swaps happen all the time; China and the U.S. have been doing a lot of it over the last few years. Democrats are once again sitting in moral judgement over Saudi Arabia when we've got blood on our own hands. I’m not complaining about what the U.S. has done, I’m just pointing out the truth.

I'll wrap up with this, Democrats have suddenly become hard-core on foreign policy because when Obama was in office, he was busy cozying up to practically every country especially in the Middle-East. This is all about Trump and them trying to do everything they can to undermine him. Good thing this is the U.S., if they tried to undermine a sitting President in other countries, they'd be tried for treason.

You Ever Wonder?

11/1/2018

If Webster wrote the first dictionary, where did he find the words?

Why do we say something is out of whack? What is a whack?

Why does "slow down" and "slow up" mean the same thing?

Why does "fat chance" and "slim chance" mean the same thing?

Why are a "wise man" and a "wise guy" opposites?

Why do "overlook" and "oversee" mean opposite things?

How come abbreviated is such a long word?

Could You Imagine?

11/1/2018

Could you imagine the outrage by Democrats and the mainstream media if it was found that Judge Kavanaugh used a claim of American Indian heritage to get a teaching job at Harvard and Penn? For that matter, if it were Senator McConnel? They're blowing off the outrage by the Cherokee Nation that Warren had been using them. If liberals believe they’d treat Republicans differently than they have Elizabeth Warren, then they’re too far from common sense to ever reach with logical thought and debate.
