To increase diversity among air traffic controllers, the FAA under President Obama, reduced its qualifications for new hires. In the past, military experience and college degrees in applicable fields (some colleges cater to this industry), lost their importance in the hiring process and instead racial make-up is one of the key qualifications. Meaning based on the weighting system, someone could be ex-military but miss out on the job solely because he’s white.
There are certain jobs, like air traffic controllers, where we certainly want the most qualified personnel possible. We don’t need the FAA to lower standards we need them to raise standards. Quite frankly, if a white person doesn’t get a job because he or she is white, then that’s quite simply called racism.
