The world's first recorded chemist is a woman named Tapputi who created perfume as one of her projects around 1200 BC in Babylonia, Mesopotamia. She was a brilliant woman who held a powerful role in the Mesopotamian government as the overseer of the Royal Palace. She developed methods for scent extraction techniques which became the basis for perfume making. She recorded her techniques and methods and those were passed on through ancient tablets which have been discovered.
Throughout history there have been amazing women who made a significant difference in the world (i.e. Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, Mother Teresa, Susan B. Anthony, etc.), the list goes on and on. Thanks to all the female heroes that we've learned about over the years and those who didn't get the recognition they deserve because they never made it into the history books.
Can you imagine being so good that all the way back to 1200 BC, statues were made of Tapputi. Most large perfume companies have at least one area of their headquarters that displays information on her, so the bottom line is, she's still a rock star.
