Five people were attacked (stabbed), recently at their workplace in Tallahassee, Florida. Some employees ran to safety, which I have no problem with, but a few employees went after the attacker and took him down until police arrived.
No one knows how they'll respond in a situation like this until they're in it. Some people freeze where they're standing, unable to speak. Some quickly take flight. Then some people, who are apparently wired this way, jump into action without hesitation.
Not everyone is born this way so thank God for those who are. Not unlike the first responders on 9/11. The building was beginning to fall apart before it actually fell apart and tumbled to the ground, but first responders were willing to save anyone they could.
I know it's their jobs. It's what they've signed up to do. But as God said, no greater love hath any man than one who is willing to risk his life for another. Thank you first responders and the thousands of people every year who put their life on the line for co-workers, family, friends, etc. You're amazing and I hope you feel the love you deserve.
