The authors of the article handed over their story to the Times and clearly listed that they couldn't collaborate the story with any witnesses beyond the one whose statement wasn't confirmed and who had worked for the Clinton Administration. The article lacked everything it would need to be legitimate. They've already been on a few shows sharing what the NYT's did to them.
