I heard on ABC news (20-20), that sales for Black Friday was around $68 billion dollars. This is the usual type of problem I see on practically a daily basis.
1) How many people in this country have much discretionary money and shop on Black Friday? I’ll make this simple math and I’m being very generous to their study, but let’s say 100 million people made purchases. If this is the case then each one of them would’ve had to of spent $680 dollars. How realistic do you think this is?
2) Where are they getting their sales figures from? Most corporate retailers don’t even have a recap on their own sales until possibly the next day. How are they getting their hands on sales from companies who aren’t Best Buy or Wal-Mart? The Retail Federation who often provides information like this does have their fingers on the sales of these huge retailers but little else.
I wanted to give you yet another example of an inaccurate report that’s being shared by ABC News. The problem these major news networks have is that due diligence is a thing of the past. I’m not a genius so if I can figure out a report is bogus they should be able to as well.
I guess they might not care because who’s going to challenge them? The problem with letting this one (or any of them), go is that it just feeds the fodder for them to say anything they want and since these networks are very liberal their tendency will be to not care a thing about what they say about the Republican Party…just like we experience every election cycle. How about the job they did on the Tea Party (a.k.a. Constitutionalist)? What a terrible group of people.
I’m contacting ABC News as I have a couple of times before and will let them know about their miscalculation. One time they corrected what they reported the very next evening while the other time they never said a thing besides apologize to me…it was one that would’ve made ABC Nightly News (Dianne Sawyer), look really bad. Anyhow, what the heck, I’m going to demand they change it. J
