After over 100 years of being headquartered in Chicago, Caterpillar is moving to Dallas. This is a perfect move for their company for many reasons including the overall costs of doing business down there being lower and having a business-friendly state.
But what really shocks me, and is a horrific red flag for Chicago, is that Caterpillar didn't even listen to any offers for them to stay. They want out and no incentives with tax breaks is going to keep them there. If I were the citizens of Chicago, or the state of Illinois in general, I'd make changes to become business-friendly immediately before it's too late.
