Roy "Doc" Halladay was a phenom MLB pitcher winning awards galore but he was an even a better person. He and his wife (Brandy), constantly worked with sick children. He even bought a suite at the Toronto Blue Jay's Stadium, where he played for several years, and remodeled it to be kid friendly then they'd bring in struggling children and their families to watch games.
His father was a corporate pilot when he was growing up, so he knew how to fly small aircraft. Something went wrong while out on a solo flight and he crashed and died in the Gulf of Mexico.
His legacy of love towards children in need will far out shine his tremendous legacy on the baseball field. He was just 40 years old (retired in Florida), and had two young boys.
