How about baseball? Why would female players in a professional softball league deserve the same salaries as MLB players? They don't, it's called capitalism. It would be like communism and socialism to take from those who have earned it and give it to others who haven't.
Liberals who are attacking the U.S. Soccer Federation are doing just this. They're trying to make it appear that the women's team is just as important as the men's and they site the crowds during the Olympics but this is completely misleading. The Olympics are one event and the women get better crowds because they've had a great winning streak. But during the rest of the year, and for several years leading up to the next Olympics, men's soccer brings in way more revenue than the women.
Forcing the same salaries for both men and women would make absolutely no sense. If it's earned, then fine but this isn't the case as it is now. If a female soccer player has the skills to make the men's team, then she would deserve a comparable salary to the other players. If the women's team starts bringing in more revenues in ticket sales and merchandise than the men's team then I'd want them to make even more money than the men. It's not about gender discrimination, it's about capitalism.
