Of course everyone knows in one form or another, the story of Frankenstein as the novel has been read no telling how many times and movies and television shows were created based on the character of Frankenstein. But what a lot of people don't know is that it was written by an 18 year-old by the name of Mary Shelley. It took her three years to finish the novel.
But the most amazing part of what she accomplished is that her book was published in 1818. From a sci-fi perspective, she had a mad scientist harness electricity through lightning in order for Frankenstein to come alive. It wasn't until the late 1800's that Edison and Westinghouse invented the use of electricity through AC/DC currents. She's probably one of the most creative writers of all time who is little known. She died at the age of 53 from a brain tumor.
