Government employees always want more government and many of these employees are unionized. We talk about less government but there's a whole other movement of people pushing to protect their jobs (understandably), and it's typically done behind closed doors because the basic ideology of more government or a lot of government, doesn't fit the core beliefs of an average citizen in the United States.
How could we help reduce the size of government besides getting rid of unnecessary government agencies? One, is to remove all unions tied to the public sector. They don't need a union at least not now anyway. The public sector makes a lot more money and has better benefits than an average U.S. citizen in the private sector. This is a recipe for disaster. You don't have to be an economic genius to understand that when private sector employees leave to go to the public sector because the money is better, we're going down. We will be bankrupt and then see how people scramble around for their assumed entitlements.
That's how it should be, but it won't...no one wants to talk accountability and sacrifice. Politicians aren't sharing the truth about our budget, debt, or deficit because it would reflect badly upon them. It won't be easy to turn things around as to how our Federal government is being run but we can't afford to sit back as I'm sure you care about the world you'll be leaving behind.
