The Australian actor, Heath Ledger's death at the age of 28 was tragic. He had just finished filming Batman where he played The Joker. In my opinion, it was one of the best performances I've seen of any actor in any movie. He had started another movie and had only gotten a couple of months in, when he accidentally overdosed on some prescription drugs. He had been struggling with sleeping for a long time and had gotten to the point of exhaustion and was trying to knock himself out with pain medication and sleeping pills so he could rest up enough to perform on set.
His performance as The Joker led to him winning several awards after his death including an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in a film. His dad said he was the gentlest soul he'd ever known and that Heath couldn't even bare to kill a fly. His daughter was two years old when he passed away.
