I'm having a difficult time believing much of the data as the people conducting the research have a vested interest in positive reports on electric vehicles. This includes data from General Motors who has invested a huge amount of money in an EV line so if these vehicles don't start taking huge market shares, they'll be out a lot of money.
As you read on, think about how much money the average American has to spend. An average EV cost around $65,000 while most Americans buy used cars at around $10,000. Can they afford losing this option?
The replacement batteries for these vehicles cost around $10,000 (small vehicle batteries cost around $4,000). They're stating the batteries last around 10 years or 100,000 miles but they sure haven't proven it yet. And how about those that aren't recycled in some way? We'll need to create huge landfills and these batteries are not biodegradable. They actually hurt the soil whereas most garbage we throw out has some benefits to the environment.
Liberals want to reduce our CO2 emissions by outlawing fossil fuels in the U.S.. What are their plans regarding airplanes and ships? Are they going electric? So in order to keep them running, we'll need to outsource this fuel. How would like for us to be dependent upon China to keep our ships and planes (including military jets), going? Scary.
What about all the materials that are derived from oil? Everywhere we look there are items (i.e., asphalt, clothing, packaging, etc.), that if we didn't have oil, we don't have products. So once again, do we want other countries holding us hostage?
I'm not anti-electric vehicle it's just that I'm pro capitalism. I want the demand to be market driven which means people will have a say in what they drive and those who are concerned about getting away from fossil fuels can continue buying what they desire. What I don't want is for people to be told what they can drive, and I also don't want the vehicles subsidized by state and federal governments. A rich person could by an Electric Bentley and still get $7,500 from the federal government. That's crazy. If people must be forced or enticed by the government to buy a product, then something is wrong in the system.
A picture of one of the ugly batteries is below. It causes these electric vehicles to weigh at least 4,000 pounds which is about 750 pounds more than a gas-powered vehicle. This begs the question, are they more dangerous on the road? I can guarantee you that finding the answer to this will be like finding a needle in a haystack. #liberalshavelosttheirminds
