In most families with multiple children, there is at least one dreamer. He or she is the one who you have to remind to get their homework done or hurry up and get ready to go out the door. It's the child who can wear you out more than the others because you constantly have to repeat yourself. But please let them continue to dream. Let them take periodic trips in their minds and don't give them a hard time for "spacing out." Because that perceived weakness you might see, can and will most probably be, one of your child's greatest assets when he or she enters the real world. The world has changed and it doesn't need a bunch of followers who don't ask questions. We need people who can think outside of the box beyond the needs in our country as we're competing with the world. In the words of Steven Tyler: "Dream On!"
As far back as I can remember, I was a dreamer; this is not a skill my dad appreciated on the farm. There's no doubt that I lollygagged a bit but I'm glad I had a vivid imagination. My mind took me places I had never been before. It inspired me to reach beyond my grasp. It did set me up for failure a few times but nothing ventured nothing gained. A case of...it was better to have imagined and lost than not to have imagined at all. Life is hard. It's a rollercoaster ride of constant ups and downs. Being able to escape through our minds is in my opinion a beautiful thing as long as we remember how to get back. :)
