Lennon moved out of London to a place in the country and built his own recording studio. He wrote songs for the next album and asked his manager over to hear them. When he heard side one of the album he wasn't too impressed and he began getting worried, as two albums in a row not performing well, could lead to a downhill slide.
John flipped the album over so his manager could hear the other side and he told him that he hadn't named the first song on the second side yet, but that he and Yoko kind of liked it. About 40 seconds into the song the manager yelled: "This is it!." He told John that they needed to release it as a single and have it as the first song on the album.
John decided to call the song: "Imagine." and it's also the name he gave the album. The album was a massive hit. He had several more albums but he hit solid gold, or should I say platinum, in 1980, when he released the album: "Doubly Fantasy." It included the major hit "Starting Over," along with "Beautiful Boy," and "Watching the Wheels." Unfortunately, Lennon was murdered before he knew what a hit his last album would become. He was amazing!
