Because of the focus on what was happening here not much was mentioned in our history books about what was happening across the pond.
Even though he was hated because of his empire building and of course taxation without representation, a lot of people never knew (people weren’t inundated with information back then like we are today), that he went insane from what some people thought was arsenic poisoning. Arsenic was in a lot of products that wealthy people used at the time like cosmetics and medicine.
He was a non-factor in ruling England for a long time and died both insane and blind while our 5th President (James Monroe), was in office. Maybe it wasn’t just the arsenic. Maybe losing the colonies in America and seeing a successful nation born and thriving could’ve helped lead to his mental and physical demise. Maybe?
