A perfect example is over Trump attacking NFL players for how they were protesting. Let me stress the word “how.” President Trump has no problem with these players protesting just not during the National Anthem. He hasn’t said they don’t have legitimate concerns. The bottom line is that he’s not against them he’s for patriotism and a majority of our country agrees with him which for some strange reason the media doesn’t get. It’s been a firestorm in the media and they’re relentless in attacking Trump by saying he’s against the protestors. This has been their entire focus and it’s a lie.
Many people don’t agree or believe what the mainstream media is reporting these days. I don’t know if you noticed, but even with the crazy things Trump has done and said he generally ends up on the right side of an issue and all the media hype goes away and they move on to the next topic to try and stir things up.
In my opinion Trump won the election for three primary reasons. First of all he won because so many people hated Hillary. He also won because he was anti-establishment. He attacked both parties and people loved it. People also loved what he was saying about draining the swamp. Lastly he won because of his patriotism which was lost during the Obama Administration.
Trump told everyone that we shouldn’t be ashamed of exceptionalism. Part of putting America first was his push for building a wall and following through on current immigration laws to protect wages. Patriotism kind of ebbs and flows (it was extremely high during Reagan’s Administration), but it was definitely at high tide during this last election and in no way did most people see Hillary as a proud American. Most voters wanted exceptionalism back as they were tired of apologizing for our country. Trump was in tune with this patriotism movement and he jumped in the race. Quite frankly, I didn’t know how strong this movement was.
The media tries to distract everyone but the fact is Trump is living up to the image he sold voters. He was and is not presidential but the media doesn’t get that most voters don’t care. Obama was smooth and polished and he let the country get away from him with all kinds of problems including record breaking debt. Trump attacks both parties instead of playing the party line like Obama did and he’s been pushing hard for America first and calling out other countries for not doing their fair share in addressing problems around the globe.
Most Americans thought that under the Obama Administration we’d become a patsy to the rest of the world, so Trump getting on the nerves of other countries like France and Germany makes sense, it’s what he promised. The media constantly makes this sound like a bad thing when he does it but they aren’t on the same side as most Americans.
I’ve been a hard-core researcher in economics and politics for years and I’ve never seen so many people disrespect and flat out get mad, at the mainstream media. And with what’s happened with Trump and the NFL we have yet another great example of them being on the wrong side of an issue so they’ll end up alienating even more viewers.
Their spin has been atrocious in making it sound like Trump doesn’t believe in the 1st Amendment when people don’t agree with him or that he’s racist (he’s always had African American friends and business associates), because of not supporting the players, when the real story has nothing to do with what he’s against but instead what he’s clearly for which is patriotism and that’s exactly the person he presented to voters during the election.
There are many things that Trump does and says that I hate but that doesn’t mean we don’t deserve fair and balanced coverage regarding his Administration so we know legitimately what is going on. Of course I don’t see this happening so I’m sure that many people like me will stop watching the major news networks and instead pursue the many media options including the BBC, to get insight into what’s happening around the world. Eventually their ratings will fall along with advertising revenues.
Money talks and maybe someday they’ll get back to the Edward R. Murrow news model of leaving out bias and just covering the who, what, when, where, and why. I can only dream.
