No More Air Travel?

2/10/2019

The "Green New Deal" is loaded with crazy things. One that I find hilarious is that they're pushing for light rail systems so that air travel won't be necessary in the United States.

There are several huge problems with this. First of all, airplanes can travel over 500 mph, allowing business people to be more productive getting from city to city; plus it increases peoples' vacation time by not spending so much time travelling.

Next, putting together an infrastructure for this type
of travel would be practically impossible. Land would need to be purchased with some Americans losing important property such as family farms, due to imminent domain. There must be hubs and there would need to by stopping points across the country. Commuter planes allow people to drop in on more isolated areas so light rail would need to fill the void.  A light rail system could only accommodate this kind of travel with stops, just like a bus must do. Bus stops are not fun.

Then there's the fact that the green movement forgot about an important state that can't use a light rail system and that's Hawaii. If we stopped air travel, Hawaii would go bankrupt as they depend on tourism.

We couldn't do away with airlines because of international travel. If overseas routes were the only ones airlines could provide because they don't have U.S. routes, then it would be difficult (if not impossible), for them to stay in business. If they attempted to survive, they'd need to increase their rates drastically making air travel to destination places like Paris, Rome, St. Croix, so expensive that only the elite could travel there. I guarantee you these other countries don't like the "Green New Deal."

The bottom line is this new deal is so outrageous that it appears that a child wrote it. What's even worse is that I only covered one topic and it's filled with other wild ideas.  Please don't let a bunch of Democrat/Socialists take our country down like they want to take down the airline industry. These people are insane.
