Is there a problem with our numerical system? Let's review a scenario. Three men pulled into a motel and decided to stay in the same room. They were told the room would cost $30, so each of them pulled a ten out of their wallets to pay for the room.
A few minutes later a bellhop knocked on their door and told them the room they were staying in was supposed to be $27 so he pulled out some ones from his pocket and began handing each man a dollar back. When they each got a dollar, they told the bellhop he could keep the remaining two dollars as a tip.
So originally each man paid $10 for the room ($30 total), but now each got a dollar back so now they each paid nine dollars for the room ($27 total). They gave the bellhop two dollars which equals a total of $29. Where did the other dollar go? Drop the mike...boom! 😊
