Paris Climate Accord

9/1/2017

I saw countless interviews by political pundits on CNN and MSNBC who were talking about the Agreement and trashing Trump for not participating without sharing that it was actually a Political Accord not a Climate Accord. Many of the newspapers like the Boston Globe, Huffington Post, New York Times, Washington Post, and San Francisco Chronicle demonized Trump for not caring about the environment when there’s proof this isn’t the case. Their true interests in the Agreement was political not environmental.

The Paris Climate Accord was completely political with over 190 countries pledging to lower carbon emissions with no regulations in place to audit and hold accountable any country for their pledges. China and India made “pledges” before in previous agreements yet their carbon footprints continue to increase because of their manufacturing plants. They didn’t follow through with their pledges and there were no consequences. What does signing the agreement mean?

Notice as well that the Agreement made predictions based off the pledges that a certain amount of emissions would be reduced by the year 2030. Just how accurate could their predictions be based on pledges which historically hadn’t been kept? The predictions are completely political with the leader of each country wanting to “appear” to care about the environment when at the end of the day, wouldn’t do anything to negatively affect their economic growth.

Did the mainstream media explain this problem with the Agreement? Did they admit it contained pledges with no auditing or accountability? Did you hear them say they had no way through this Agreement to get the greatest contributors of the emissions to actually stop what they’ve been doing? Did they provide us with the names of countries that have never followed through with Climate Accord pledges in the past? This would be real journalism and not fake news.

President Trump said he’d sign an agreement to reduce our emissions if China and India were held accountable for following through with their pledges to reduce their carbon footprints. What’s wrong with fighting for the environment by demanding results not a bunch of empty promises? Why not require other countries to live up to the standards we already have in place? Trump’s actually trying to do something to reduce emissions through accountability and not playing political games with the topic like liberals are doing.

Think about this, why wouldn’t liberals agree with Trump that pledges aren’t working and that places like China and India need repercussions for not living up to standards that were already agreed upon? Begs the question, who really cares about the environment?

The easiest thing for Trump to have done was sign the Paris Climate Accord but he took the difficult path out of principle and not because he doesn’t care about the planet. I’m not a big fan of Trump’s but I agree completely with how he handled this situation and called everyone out for playing political games with climate change.

Unfortunately the mainstream media didn’t share this truth and instead pushed the narrative around the world that our leader doesn’t care about the environment. Once again it’s a case of politics over country. I hope someday more Americans realize the game liberals are playing and will turn a deaf ear to their organized hysteria.
