Republicans are asking why the FBI refuses to send the Oversight Committee information on how they calculated a payout to 40 individuals who lost loved ones in the 2018 murders at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
Senator Grassley (R) stated: "Officials confirm a settlement of $127.5 million to Parkland families because the FBI failed to investigate tips warning of the school attack before it happened. Close to four years after the incident the FBI still hasn't produced its investigation report to Congress, failing the transparency required of them. What is FBI hiding?"
The settlement gave each plaintiff in the civil case a little over $3 million dollars apiece so of course the Oversight Committee would like to know how they came up with the number. It sickens me to know that the highest law enforcement in the land thinks it isn't accountable to anyone. I hope they'll someday get their credibility back.
