Playing with the Numbers

2/1/2018

Both parties mislead us, but Democrats really take the cake. In reference to the Tax Bill here's my favorite: They said Republicans are raising taxes on the middle-class when it isn't true. Why would Republicans upset such a huge voting block? Democrats played a game with the numbers in order to mislead everyone.

The upcoming numbers aren't exact as they've been a moving target, but you'll get the picture. When Republicans started off predicting a $2,800 tax break for the middle-class at the end of the day it might end up around $1,500 because of debt reasons. Instead of Democrats admitting it’s a $1,500 tax break for the middle-class they go to the podiums and say that Republicans are raising their taxes $1,300. Do you see what they just did there? One of many reasons why I wouldn’t want to hold any public office.

The fact of the matter is, the Republican Tax Bill reduced tax brackets up and down the economic spectrum, so most people will enjoy the work Republicans put into the Bill and will start asking themselves why did Democrats lie about the Bill? Not just a few times either. I think every crazy, negative, thing they made up about the Tax Bill has been debunked.

In my opinion, the only legitimate argument they have is that our debt might explode because economic growth won't increase fast enough to bring in the tax revenues needed to cover the budget. The problem with this, is that they haven't cared about our debt before as Obama broke all records, so it would seem like it's coming out of nowhere. I would be glad they were doing the right thing even if it was for political purposes.
