Some Democrats, who believe the U.S. Constitution is an obstacle to their ideology, are pushing for the end to the Electoral College. Of course they want this, it would take away the will of most of the states in our Union and allow states with high populations like California, Illinois, and New York, dictate who the U.S. President will be; there would no longer be a Republican President. There would be no balance of powers. There would be no reason to hold presidential elections in most states because their votes wouldn't matter.
Liberals are livid that Hillary lost the election and immediately brought up that Trump shouldn't have won because Hillary won the popular vote but that's not how the system works. That's not how our Constitution works. Trump won convincingly with the electoral vote as a huge number of U.S. states wanted Trump to represent them. They can push all they want, but a popular vote for presidential elections isn't going to happen.
