Rachel Vietch is 93 years old and parked her car for the last time as she no longer qualifies to drive which was one of her great loves in life. She even drove around 3,000 miles to attend her college's 70th reunion (I'm not sure many people were there).
She admitted to driving her car 120 mph once and that she's received a lot of speeding tickets over the years. It was especially sad for her to park her car because as she calls it: "The Chariot" has been with her for 48 years...a 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente (cost $3,289 dollars). When she parked it, the original engine had 576,000 miles on the odometer. This didn't just happen as she was meticulous about taking care of her baby (she was basically a car enthusiast/nut).
When the time comes for me to park my car for the last time I'll be absolutely devastated to lose that independence. Rachel gave up even more as she had to say goodbye to a 48 year old faithful friend. Finish strong, Miss Rachel!
