His family life was horrific growing up and this is why he didn't' play football until much later than other boys. He was a strangely powerful kid when he was around 11 years old and there's a reason for it. He got tired of seeing men come in and out of his life with many of them beating his mom so he worked out constantly; not in a gym, but with anything he could find to lift inside and outside the house. He became so powerful that after the age of 12, no man ever hit his mother again out of fear as to what Ray would do to them; and for some, what he did to do them. He's still a mama's boy.
Ray has come a long way in his personal life and is now a strong, Christian man. He acknowledges that his life is yet another case of that it took some terrible things to take place in his life to open a door to a better life. He didn't break. He grew stronger day by day. He's a humble man who acknowledges how screwed up he's been but is so committed to making God proud now. I can relate.
