Some Trivia

2/1/2019

He's one of Hollywood's most liked actors and consistently one of the busiest. His father was a Heisman Trophy winner and he ended as a starting quarterback at UCLA. In his first game at quarterback, UCLA was a huge underdog to consecutive National Champions, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and he led them to a 20-17 victory with a last-second score. He ended up helping turn UCLA's football program around with a 17-5 record at quarterback.

He originally went into the business world but someone he knew said that because of his good looks, that he could make it as an actor and he quickly landed roles on Police Woman, Adam-12, and Emergency. His first huge role was on the award winning series: St. Elsewhere, where he played a doctor. Female viewers were flooding the show with calls and letters; apparently many women were interested in marrying him. :) In 1986, he was People's Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive.

But now he's best known for his record-breaking television series NCIS, as it's been in the Top 10 for sixteen years in a row. Only Sixty Minutes has a better record. This amazing actor is Mark Harmon. In 1996, Harmon saved a teenage boy involved in a car accident outside his Brentwood home. The driver had been able to get himself out, but the passenger was trapped in the burning car. Harmon used a sledgehammer from his garage to break the window of the car and pulled the passenger from the flames, who suffered burns to 30% of his body.

He's certainly not the Hollywood type as he prefers living a normal lifestyle. He and Pam Dawber (Mork & Mindy), have been married for 31 years and they have two children. Side note: He began his own production company and it produces NCIS New Orleans. But the best news of all, he's not a liberal! :)
