But what almost blows me away more than anything else, is that they try to act like they care about the downtrodden, when they're actually elitists. LeBron James fights for social justice while making around $490,000 for each game he plays in during the season. This means that based on his usual performance, he gets paid $32,000 for every two-point shot and $48,000 for every three point basket. In one night of playing basketball, nothing critical or serious, just basketball, LeBron makes as much as it takes an average citizen ten years to earn. Now, I'm not saying it is any of their faults for making the ridiculous amount of money they do, for once again, things that don't matter much in the scheme of things, but it does irk me that they don't seem to understand their double-standards. Those poor athletes and entertainers with their fist in the air signaling black power (yes, that is what it stands for), are privileged. Their children have the opportunity to attend private schools all the way through college.
The bottom line is that I'm sick and tired of being preached to no matter where I turn. I don't even watch ESPN unless there's a game on, because so many of their broadcasters in the studio, spend their time on racial politics. I wasn't tuning in to ESPN for their insight on this topic, I wanted insight into the games that are/were on that day.
Television shows, movies, etc., seem to all have a social agenda. It's like we're constantly in class and they're rapping our knuckles with a ruler because we're deplorable and just don't get it. Bless our hearts, we have subconscious bias so we know not what we do.
