First of all, I don't have a clue as to what to do about it. It seems like technology is always ahead of humanity and we're always playing catch-up. I do find it ironic though that our legislators were attacking these people about privacy issues when the DNC's and RNC's databases are loaded with personal information. I think it would shock most people if they knew how they were profiled as these databases are populated with all kinds of personal information that both organizations have paid for. So once again they sit in judgement and are guilty themselves of the same thing they're attacking witnesses about.
In situations like we're facing now, even though the problems seem insurmountable, there are always things we can do; basically, we only have control over ourselves. One thing is to not sign up with any internet company/service using your Face Book account as the login. In small print it will tell you that by agreeing to use Face Book as your login identification, they'll have access to personal information on your Face Book account like contacts. This isn't fair to other people.
The other thing to keep in mind is that when you sign up for something that is "free," generally you become the product that they'll be selling. In one way or another they will data mine your personal life and sell that information; thus things like robocalls.
