Most people know about the musical group: "Captain and Tennille," but what many people don't know is that both singer/musicians played keyboard for: "The Beach Boys" during various stretches in time. Toni Tennille was the only Beach Girl the band every had.
The Captain (Daryl Dragon), was instrumental on one of the Beach Boy's albums as he co-wrote a song with Brian Wilson and helped produce the record. They left the Beach Boys, got married, and started their own group and found immediate success with the song: "Love Will Keep Us Together."
They have five albums certified gold or platinum and scored numerous hits on the US singles charts along with having their own television show, although it lasted only one season. Daryl stopped playing piano years ago due to a neurological condition which gave him tremors. They divorced after 39 years of marriage in 2014 and Daryl died of kidney failure this year while Toni is 78 and lives in Montgomery, Alabama. It's where she grew up as her father had a family furniture store there. Toni went to Auburn University and studied classical piano.
