The foundation also sponsors the ballet, operas, and symphony orchestras which are generally attended by people with plenty of money to pay for tickets without them needing to be subsidized by taxpayer dollars.
But what I didn’t mention before as I just came across the information recently is that the foundation has 432 employees with an average salary and benefit package of a whopping $126,415 a year (2016). This is beyond outrageous. These people are making around four times what an average employee in the private sector makes and you and I are paying for their lavish lifestyles through our tax dollars.
Democrats are trying to make it sound like Republicans don’t care about the “Arts and Humanities” when this isn’t the case. The reason there’s a push on Capitol Hill to get rid of the agency is due to ridiculous projects which are being funded, money going to undeserving organizations, then of course there’s the public employees getting rich working for the organization. These are just some of the reasons why Republicans are out to get rid of the National Endowment of the Arts and it makes perfect sense. How unusual for the Democrats and mainstream media to not share the real reasons Republicans have for getting rid of this agency.
