This in itself isn't illegal, and I don't mind it if the trip is truly necessary to gain insight into something which would help their constituents, but in this case, I'm concerned, because ethics have left the Capitol.
Out of those trips, there are five "nonprofits," who sponsored travel (this includes rooms in great hotels and wining and dining), that just so happened to get over $100 million dollars in federal funds and guess who championed the direction of the funding; that's right, the people who enjoyed a lot of great travel. Keep in mind this isn't a partisan issue as both parties are corrupt.
These are two non-profit organizations who got the most money from the federal government during this period:
1) The Atlantic Council received $48 million in federal funding (with the exception of climate change, they're generally apolitical and are a good source for research information), but I don't have a clue why they received that much money. Sometimes you realize later when politicians end up getting highly lucrative jobs at these places, why they did what they did.
2) The Aspen Institute received $38.2 million in federal funding and in my opinion, it is a radical organization. Here's something they wrote about the Capitol riots: "We can't ignore the role of religion in the U.S. Capitol siege. Christian Nationalism is particularly dangerous because it's tolerated. " They are far left and certainly not an organization I want my tax dollars going towards. Call me old-fashioned, I just don't want my hard-earned money going towards dividing our country.
Final note: I'm a researcher so I'm aware of many legitimate sources for my information but guess what, trying to get information and pictures of our politicians living it up at resorts on our dime, is very difficult and thus one of the reasons why democrats are so imbedded with Big Tech. Both they and the media have their backs.
The first time I did a scan for the information, I received pages of content regarding articles about politicians from other countries, but not ours. This is the kind of content filtering that most people aren't aware of. Transparency and truth be damned according to way too many. Sad.
