He was instrumental in laying the groundwork for higher learning which was much needed at that time since most people didn't know how to read. He knew structured education was our best chance to raise our potential as a nation. The bottom line is we had the greatest forefathers of any nation throughout the history of mankind. How many people rise to power and then tell everyone they have equal rights to their own? How many countries came into being under: "Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" with laws written to help achieve these goals?
We are truly a blessed nation. We need to appreciate it and fight for it not just for ourselves and our families but for the legacy of hundreds of thousands of men and women who risked everything for a dream called: "Democracy."
