This is why advertisers pay four times the cost for an ad during NFL playoffs. Of course they pay outrageous amounts for Superbowl commercials. The very first Superbowl commercial in 1966, cost $39,000 while the upcoming Superbowl ads are going for around $7,000,000 for a thirty second spot, up from $6,500,000 last year.
BTW: My favorite Superbowl commercial of all time, followed by a bunch of Budweiser commercials, is when Electronic Data Systems ran their: "Herding Cats," commercial in 2020. Having been involved in the advertising/marketing industries for years, it's one of the most effective commercials I've ever seen. Extremely funny and it hits home as to what their business does, which is basically getting things under control for companies. Oh, and let us not forget the hilarious E*Trade baby. In real life he's now in high school. Feeling old?
