Think about this for a second…how much food and water would it take to keep 10,000 soldiers going strong? Thus what really won wars…logistics. Army’s often fought in the middle of nowhere without lakes, rivers, springs, or even animals/food to keep them from starving. If it weren’t for those who were in charge of providing supplies the armies would’ve perished.
How about the 500 archers out of the 10,000 soldiers (historical average). How many arrows could they carry? Wagons upon wagons had to bring more arrows to make them available to them…once again logistics.
Just something to think about. The glory goes to those on the ground doing the fighting but let’s face it without some tremendous talent in the logistics of war, army’s would’ve fallen.
