According to research, registered Republicans are almost twice as likely to be employed as Democrats. This means that by far a majority of the tax revenues are coming from Republicans yet there’s no weight given to this when it comes to casting votes. Should there be?
Benjamin Franklin addressed this point in saying in some many words that when people don’t contribute to the pot yet can vote themselves money from it, that it will be the end of our Republic. The fact is Democrats don’t have a problem pushing social spending because it’s not their money. When you have skin in the game you naturally become more fiscally responsible.
I realize it wouldn’t be realistic to only allow those who are contributing tax revenues, or have contributed and are now retired, the honor of voting but if this did happen, better choices would be made. Socialist ideas like Bernie and Hillary were suggesting would never be considered because those who are actually losing around 35% of their payroll to the Federal Government know that the checking account is around $20 trillion in the hole. Talk about bouncing checks.
